Dr. Joshua Kakugawa, DC

Dr. Joshua Kakugawa was born and raised in Honolulu, Hawaii. He earned his Bachelor of Science in Pre-Med Biology from Hawaii Pacific University (HPU) and his Doctor of Chiropractic from Palmer College of Chiropractic in Davenport, Iowa, the founding school of chiropractic medicine.

While at HPU, Dr. Kakugawa was a part of the Men’s Tennis Team. Along with his collegiate sports and studies, he worked as a professional tennis coach for the United States Tennis Association/Hawaii Pacific Section teaching tennis to children and adults. As an athlete, he became interested in working with the body in a natural holistic way. He also studied abroad in Tokyo, Japan and speaks conversational Japanese.

At Palmer College of Chiropractic, Dr. Kakugawa attended numerous advance training seminars and received certification in several chiropractic techniques including: Gonstead, Diversified, Thompson, Flexion-Distraction, Activator, and Upper and Lower Extremities. In his last year of college, he was one of the select few to work as a senior chiropractic teaching assistant in the college clinic.

It is Dr. Kakugawa’s philosophy to improve the health and well-being of his patients without drugs and surgery, utilizing the body’s natural ability to heal itself.
